Position purpose
The Product Designer will establish design patterns and principles that scale across ikeGPS's current and expanding product portfolio, influencing how thousands of utility professionals interact with critical infrastructure data daily. Over time, these design system patterns may extend to influence other products in the ikeGPS portfolio, including established desktop applications.
This role requires a unique combination of skills: deep expertise in geospatial and 3D interfaces, mastery of modern design tools including AI-powered workflows, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where designs directly influence product-market fit for a transformational platform.
Position location
Broomfield, Colorado, USA with Hybrid work Schedule per company policy; Remote may be considered for exceptional candidates.

User Experience Design
- Design the complete user experience for new, cloud-native customer-facing applications serving utilities, communications companies, and engineering firms
- Create intuitive workflows that enable users to leverage robust utility asset data, structural analysis, AI insights, and predictive analytics
- Transform complex capabilities (physics-based simulations, computer vision outputs, automated recommendations) into accessible, understandable interfaces
- Expand design scope over time to include data acquisition workflow interfaces, analytics/visualization dashboards, and administrative/configuration interfaces
Outcomes: Platform delivers an intuitive, elegant user experience that makes complex infrastructure intelligence accessible to utility professionals. Users can effectively leverage AI-powered insights and multi-source data through workflows that feel natural and efficient. The design system scales to support expanding product capabilities while maintaining consistency and quality.
Geospatial & 3D Interface Expertise
- Design sophisticated map-based interfaces for infrastructure visualization and analysis
- Create 3D viewing experiences for utility poles, overhead assets, and related infrastructure
- Design data visualization and analytics dashboards that surface actionable insights from massive geospatial datasets
- Establish interaction patterns for multi-source imagery (drone, vehicle-based, mobile device, satellite)
- Ensure designs account for the unique challenges of spatial data visualization and 3D navigation
Outcomes: Users can effectively visualize, navigate, and analyze complex geospatial and 3D infrastructure data through interfaces that leverage industry best practices while innovating on interaction patterns. The platform provides industry-leading visualization capabilities that help utilities make better infrastructure decisions.
Design Systems & Tooling
- Leverage AI-assisted design tools (Figma AI, LLM-powered ideation, generative design) to accelerate iteration and explore design alternatives
- Build and maintain a comprehensive Figma-anchored design system with reusable component libraries
- Create engineering-ready design specifications that minimize design-to-development friction, regardless of source tool
- Establish design documentation standards enabling pixel-perfect, accessible implementation
- Partner with front-end engineering to ensure design deliverables meet "engineering-ready" standard, delivering pragmatic incremental prototyping wins
- Maintain design system documentation and guidelines for consistency across product portfolio
- Work with ikeGPS Brand group to share unified resources and align design systems for a consistent user experience from the first marketing interaction through daily product use.
Outcomes: A robust design system accelerates product development through reusable components and clear specifications. Front-end engineers receive engineering-ready designs that reduce implementation ambiguity and rework. AI-powered workflows increase design velocity without sacrificing quality.
Rapid Prototyping & Validation
- Create low/mid/high-fidelity prototypes appropriate to product development stage
- Design interactive prototypes for customer validation and stakeholder alignment
- Conduct usability testing and synthesize feedback into actionable design improvements
- Iterate rapidly based on customer research, technical constraints, and business requirements
- Build prototype libraries and templates that accelerate future design work
Outcomes: Product concepts are validated with customers before significant engineering investment. Stakeholders can provide meaningful feedback on interactive prototypes rather than static designs. The team maintains velocity through rapid iteration informed by real user testing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product Managers, align design with product strategy, requirements and customer value propositions
- Collaborate with Product Managers/Owners to understand technical capabilities and constraints
- Work with front-end engineering teams to ensure feasible, performant implementation
- Engage with customer success, strategic customers and external product advisors to understand real-world user workflows and pain points
- Collaborate with ikeGPS brand, designers, and marketing to share elements in the design system and component library
- Present design concepts and rationale to SVP Product, Product team, and executive stakeholders
- Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies to maintain alignment with development teams
Outcomes: Design work is tightly integrated with product strategy and engineering execution. Cross-functional teams operate with shared understanding of customer needs and technical possibilities. Designs balance user experience excellence with engineering feasibility.
AI-Powered Design Workflows
- Implement and champion AI-assisted design tools across design processes
- Use LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude) for design research synthesis, content generation, and design documentation
- Leverage AI-assisted generative design and prototyping tools (such as Figma Make and Claude Design) alongside emerging design technologies to increase velocity from concept to validated prototype
- Stay current with AI design tool evolution and identify opportunities for productivity gains
- Share knowledge and best practices with product team on effective AI tool usage
Outcomes: AI-powered tools accelerate design processes without sacrificing quality. The team maintains competitive advantage through early adoption of emerging design technologies. Design documentation and research synthesis happen faster and more comprehensively.

Essential Qualifications
- 5+ years UI/UX design experience with demonstrated expertise in complex B2B enterprise applications
- Proven track record delivering 0→1 products from concept through market launch
- Deep expertise with geospatial interfaces, map-based applications, and location intelligence products
- Strong experience designing 3D visualization interfaces and spatial data interactions
- Expert-level proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools — Figma (component libraries, design systems, auto-layout, collaborative workflows) as the current standard, plus fluency with AI-assisted generative design and prototyping tools such as Figma Make, Claude Design, or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience creating engineering-ready design specifications that accelerate development
- Portfolio showcasing sophisticated data visualization, analytics dashboards, and complex workflow designs (portfolio submission required)

- Hybrid work environment (Broomfield, Colorado HQ preferred); remote considered for exceptional candidates, but with an expectation of quarterly onsite presence.
- Occasional coordination with New Zealand-based teams may require flexibility in work hours
